Version 1.3 Release
Version 1.3 of the Backseat Geologist app is now available on the App Store. This version includes new widget support for the home screen and Siri integration.
New Features
- Widget support for the home screen: Widgets allow you to display some information about the geologic formation at your location. There are two size options, small and medium. The widget is styled to look like a legend on a geologic map and the color of the widget is the color of the formation label. Full location access is recommended to have the most up to date information on the widget.
- Siri integration: Siri integration allows you to get geological information from the app by saying “Hey Siri, use Backseat Geologist” or “Hey Siri, what is the geology around me using Backseat Geologist”. After using it for a bit you will see the app icon show up in the Siri suggestions and no longer need to say “using Backseat Geologist”. This also comes with a new app shortcut to allow automation options in the Shortcuts app. Siri is generally terrible at talking about geology, but this integration makes Siri a decent geologist.
